The Career Paths to Teaching (CPT) is a program designed to encourage
high school seniors to explore the field of education. The program is open to high school
seniors taking college preparatory classes within the Westshore Career Technical District,
which includes: Lakewood, Bay Village, Rocky River, and Westlake students.
The mission of the Career Paths to Teaching program is to encourage interested high school
seniors to enter into the teaching profession by providing them with support and training
necessary for success as both a student and a teacher.
The Goals for the CPT program are to:
- Provide education related to teaching and learning.
- Promote a positive attitude toward teaching.
- Provide internship experience under the guidance of an experienced teacher.
- Ensure college readiness on the part of the student.
The Career Paths to Teaching program is off campus 4 days a week and the other day of the
week the students will be in a related class at Lakewood High School. Students enrolled in
the program will receive 4 credits for classroom work and internship experience. For more
